Proudly featured in the first edition of ‘Living with Light’ by Unios.

Located in the bustling city of Brisbane, Bennison is a unique residential statement that explores the fusion of architecture, material, nature and light.

Designing Bennison means carrying the vision of immersing warmth and peacefulness into the functionality of a home. To execute this vision, a masterful play of light comes without saying.

Unios Bianco Wall Light embrace Bennison’s exterior and interior in soft and warm illumination. On the outside, the luminaire’s striking lighting effect harmonises with the timber palette beautifully, resulting in a homely envelope that is unique in every way. On the inside, the luminaire pairs with the Titanium Downlight for general and accent lighting tasks. With a minimal design, low glare and excellent optics, the Titanium Downlight assist in wayfinding and mood setting while bringing comfort to the premise.

Hidden behind mirrors and cupboards is the Eclipse Linear Light. With exceptional performance and dot-free illumination, the luminaire lights up the space as an indirect light source, bringing comfort and a sense of homeliness to Bennison.

We are so thrilled to receive the news that our Welsby Street New Farm project took out 4 awards recently at the Master Builders Housing & Construction Awards. Hampton Homes Australia were recognised in multiple categories for this project: The prestigious ‘House of the Year’ award, as well as ‘Best Home Renovation/Remodelling Project over $3 million’, ‘Best Residential Bathroom’ & ‘Best Residential Kitchen’.

Master Builders Housing & Construction Awards recognise members at the forefront of building innovation and quality craftsmanship, promoting and showcasing excellence in Queensland’s housing and construction industry. A huge congratulations to Hampton Homes Australia and everyone who played their role in bringing this luxurious project to life!

Welsby Street New Farm

Project Team:

  • Hampton Homes Australia
  • Interior Designer David R Mann
  • Architect Tommy Kanchanasinith

This contemporary mid-century modern home enjoys expansive river views and a side boundary overlooking heritage listed fig trees. The interiors take advantage of the unique views, maximising living spaces, including natural palette colours, extensive use of solid timber flooring and joinery – The judges were impressed with the curved steel and glass staircase, which was welded onsite with a seamless finish, commenting “This design and concept have an element of timelessness. Overwhelming appreciation for the detail and architectural innovation.”

Project20 were engaged to work alongside Claus, David & Tommy to design the lighting concept & specify the appropriate light fixtures throughout the entire property – the masterpiece being a unique, custom-built 5m long Murano glass chandelier ‘Infinity Rain’, appearing like a slow-motion waterfall & the only one of its kind in Australia – designed & hand-made in Italy & adorning the void in the Main Living area – some of our global & national suppliers involved in the project included:

Our strong relationships forged over the years with our International & National suppliers allows us to facilitate these truly magnificent luminaires on such prestigious projects & we will continue to present new & innovative designs to the QLD & national markets well into the future.

Welsby Street New Farm

“In accepting these coveted awards, we wish to thank and acknowledge the exceptional team of suppliers, contractors and partners that have contributed to this project and help us deliver another dream home for our highly valued clients. We pass on our congratulations to all fellow industry award nominees in showcasing such a high calibre of craftsmanship, and we now lift our gaze towards our future projects as we continue in the pursuit of excellence and fulfil our goal to raise the industry standards.”

With an eye for organic design and sculptural silhouettes, Lisa McDennon brings a distinctive perspective to her Hinkley lighting pieces. This year, she continues to expand the Lisa McDennon Collection with brand new families and additions to existing lines. We caught up with Lisa to hear more about her 2022 product launch and the inspiration behind her work.

Tell us about this new release!

“This is an exciting and diverse release, and I’m excited about continuing to expand the collection with more design styles and expanding the use and mixture of various materials and finishes! I am also looking forward to seeing how these designs will be incorporated into interior projects – it’s like icing on the cake when I see my designs featured in actual installations.”

Q + A

Could you walk us through some of your new pieces?

Flora Pendant by Hinkley Lighting

FLORA is an organic ethereal chandelier with delicate branching leaf and floral motif; fresh, crisp, elegant and modern with the versatility to be used in a variety of interiors. I could see this in a coastal master bedroom, or over a formal dark stained wood dining table, or even in an eclectic vintage-inspired living room with layers of rich fabrics and wall coverings. Available in matte white and burnished brass finishes.

Hinkley Gilda Wall Sconce

GILDA
is a new collection of transitional sconces available in two finishes, showcasing an elongated oval backplate in beautiful veined white or black honed marble, accentuated by a detailed stepped brass collar and rivets, and large glass globe. The concept for this design was to create something tailored and modern with a historical nod. I imagine these installed in a bar, library, or as elegant bedside lamps.

How would you describe your design style?

“For being an interior designer, I don’t just have one particular aesthetic that I design within. My interiors are not cookie cutter. We really like to listen to the client and be able to help almost be like a personal stylist and really understand their personality and their lifestyle and the architecture of the home. In a way I think that in itself translates to my lighting collection. Not everything is modern. Not everything is coastal. You can see with the Echelon collection, its roots are very Art Deco.”

Echelon

ECHELON

Breathing inspiration drawn from the classic style of Art Deco, Echelon is a multi-tier style in a gleaming Heritage Brass finish.

Laguna

The Laguna is modern and really set for more of a traditional, glamorous interior. I think there’s a width and a breadth to the collection. I like the ability to play in that and I like the idea that the lighting collection and the pieces themselves have their own flexibility to be able to be interpreted and manipulated by the end user depending upon their application.

How has the Lisa McDennon collection evolved since you launched in 2018?

Over the years it’s continued to grow, and I do feel that Hinkley has allowed me the opportunity to express my creativity in a variety of different ways. In working with Hinkley, they’ve also expanded their manufacturing resources in order to accommodate the designs that I’m creating because I’m pushing the boundaries with materials. One of the really benchmark elements of my collection is utilizing unique materials and combining and juxtaposing materials together within a fixture—for example, using spun metal and fabric cords, using suede, linen, acrylic, hair on hide—just all different kinds of materials mixed together. I think their ability to source the more unique elements within the fixtures is also allowing us to really expand the designs.

Where do you find inspiration for your lighting collection?

Lisa McDennon Hinkley Lighting

I live steps from the beach and walk several miles every morning along the coastline and I always have my phone at the ready, taking pictures of everything. Maybe it’s moss on the rocks on the beach, or movement in the sand or palm trees or a patterned grate on a street drain. I’m constantly graciously absorbing new things. I’m just a seeker. I’m always looking and sourcing and gathering inspiration ideas from pretty much everything.

Cambo is the new design by cenlitrosmetrocadrado for a-emotional light
Available now through Project 20 – Architectural Lighting

THE WORD CAMBO (OF GALICIAN ORIGIN) REFERS TO A WOODEN PIECE WITH A HOOK AT ONE END, A HANDCRAFTED ELEMENT PRESENT IN THE GALICIAN TRADITION.

With nature and our environment as inspiration, the Cambo system has been designed based on the natural growth of plants, the branching and bifurcation of trees. Ricardo Tubío and Xabier Rilo’s vision of the natural environment has given rise to a modular system that allows different designs to be configured with the same elements.

‘Cambo’ is made of a beech wood structure with a water-based varnish that allows the material to be shown in its most natural form. With this peculiar structure, the painted stainless steel mesh is introduced into the lampshade which houses the integrated LED light source.

This new design is available in two standard colours that highlight the warmth of the wood: Black and White.

The use of this flagship material also allows it to be customised in the colour that best suits each project.

This new lamp by a-emotional light marks a before and after in the brand’s trajectory where, for the first time, mesh is combined with another material: beech wood. The presence of wood in ‘Cambo’ forges the Atlantic identity of this lamp and takes a further step towards creating sustainable designs.

The Cambo system comes in 4 different pendant lamp models. Its pure form makes this design a lamp that can be used both individually in reading corners and in large spaces, creating compositions with the different models and colours.

PSA! The family of V lamp, designed by Héctor Serrano for A by Arturo Alvarez, is now also available in Terracotta – the colour of the earth.

We know how important colours are to your project, the story they tell and the way they welcome people when they enter the space. For this reason, we offer a lamp customisation service so that you can choose the colour that best suits your palette.

Warmth with character.

The strength of this trending colour, present in nature, transforms this collection to generate welcoming spaces full of vitality and personality.

Héctor Serrano turns daily products around with his particular vision of creating objects of great value that have been exhibited in museums in London, New York or Amsterdam. His collaboration with the brand is present in the V, Ballet and Woods collections. Its perfect geometry around the light is built piece by piece, adding emotion to an industrial design.

V is made of polycarbonate pieces, a resistant, durable and easy-to-clean material. Available in white, black and terracotta, allowing customisation for large projects in any tone.

Project 20 is excited to announce the release of the stunning new collection ‘Agasallo‘, which means “gift” in Galician, designed by Héctor Serrano for Arturo Alvarez‘s editor, A-emotional Light.

The collection is made up of 4 suspension lamps with infinite possibilities to make compositions and that can be configured to illuminate indoor and outdoor spaces, made of the brand’s emblematic material: hand-painted and molded metal mesh.

There is something extraordinary when a material is given freedom to express itself and this is precisely what happens in Agasallo” , says Héctor Serrano.

This is where the design of Agasallo started, a collection based on the natural properties of the material. Based on a cylindrical shape and through a spontaneous play with a thread that stretches at different points in the shape, the designer has achieved the collection’s soft shapes. Its silhouette thus arises naturally from an industrial material.

Once again, the designer Héctor Serrano has given an everyday product a spin. A particular vision that has led him to exhibit his pieces in museums in London, Amsterdam or New York.

We present the new masterpiece by A by Arturo Álvarez.

The form of Agasallo arises from a simple gesture. Starting from a cylinder and passing a thread that stretches through various points, the Valencian designer achieves the folds with which the organic and soft shapes of the piece are created. Thus Héctor Serrano has achieved an almost handmade piece based on an industrial material. Achieving its design through a game of “tug of war” and a game of manual experimentation. Thanks to the metal mesh, with small holes in the hand-painted surface, the lamp illuminates the space with a special shine and texture.

The collection is hand painted in 5 colors, white, beige, gray, taupe and custom – a characteristic colour of the firm. Thanks to the sinuous shapes that are achieved with its folds and the colours of the collection, the luminaire generates unique light effects. The light is projected into the space creating a special glow, almost like a jewel. The new collection created for A-emotional Light is suitable for both indoors and outdoors and is available in four heights that can be combined to form different compositions and unique environments.

If you can imagine this stunning collection in your project, contact our team to discuss further!

Lighting, like the internet, is something we rarely think about. It’s there. It’s useful. And it’s not until it stops working that we realise just how much we rely on it. Lighting plays an important role in any interior space. When decorating, people usually focus on furniture, carpentry and walls, and lighting almost always becomes an afterthought.

Enter Project 20 — Australia’s premier luxury architectural lighting supply and design specialist servicing residential and commercial projects in Queensland and throughout Australia. With more than 30 years of lighting experience both nationally and internationally, the company works collaboratively with you to create stunning and dynamic illuminated spaces. Project 20 has established itself as a formidable force in the industry, using progressive and energy-efficient lighting sourced locally and from around the world.

“We collaborate with some of the world’s leading lighting craftspeople, designers and companies that share the same work ethos as ourselves: passion, integrity, creativity, exceptional customer service and a desire to deliver results,” says Pete Seabrook, managing director of Project 20. “We specialise in residential, corporate, hospitality and aged care projects and include modern, contemporary, classical and traditional architectural lighting ranges to suit your individual requirements.” A new build, renovation or extension, whether it be commercial, hospitality or residential in nature, can often be a very complex ask if approached and undertaken in the wrong way. Hey, it can be a mission even if approached the right way! “One of the many facets of construction is how to illuminate the building correctly. Most people find this a little confusing and overwhelming,” says Pete.

“By engaging lighting professionals in a company like Project 20, who can offer the appropriate advice, guidance and direction as well as a diverse range of products from national and international lighting partners, feelings of confusion are replaced with confidence and clarity.”

Lighting is an essential feature in every room of the home. Why, then, is it often overlooked from a design perspective? Lighting is so much more than basic illumination. It is also instrumental in crafting the mood and ambiance of a space. “Lighting is often left to the last minute and this is where problems arise; budgets are stretched, and quality is compromised,” says Pete. “But if you don’t illuminate in the correct way, your space will appear drab and unappealing. Allow a realistic, sufficient budget for decent lighting from the start.”

Thanks to Project 20, it’s never been easier to get the lighting right. Offering lighting consultations, lighting designs and lighting supplies, as a collective number of services or as individually required, the company injects a serious amount of energy and determination into your lighting, ensuring your project will always be in good hands.

Add the finishing touch of casual-yet-luxurious lighting to your Hamptons-inspired home with these five fabulous designer pendants.

For statement lighting that will add the defining element of design and sophisticated finish to your interior, premium luxury lighting brand Feiss have the modern Hamptons look down to a fine art.

Feiss is one of Project 20’s most popular lighting brands that we work with, bringing the collections over from the US – and with it, the signature look of the iconic US beachside area that has become a perennial favourite with Queensland homeowners and decorators! We love how their designs give a little modern twist on the Hamptons style, with pendants that blur the boundaries of classic and chic.

So, which of these five Feiss lights are your favourite?

Allier Collection by Feiss - Hamptons

Allier Collection by Feiss

The Allier collection makes an elegantly rustic statement by blending warm kiln-dried Weathered Oak Wood with Antique Forged Iron hardware on a modern orb silhouette. Project 20 is now offering a damp-rated Outdoor Chandelier in this style that can be used indoors as well as covered outdoor spaces (love!).

Gannet Collection by Feiss - Hamptons

Gannet Collection by Feiss

The Gannet Collection by Feiss melds the perfect mix of rustic flair with crisp edges and bold lines. A two-tone finish of painted, distressed Weathered Oak on an Antique Forged Iron metal frame further soften this iconic lantern silhouette.

Khoury Collection by Feiss - Hamptons

Khoury Collection by Feiss

The Khoury wall sconces from Feiss are inspired by the old world charm, with a modern twist. The latest LED technology has been incorporated, while the large, rectangular Chrome backplate features an Antique Mirror glass inlay, creating a beautiful, reflective backdrop to reflect the light from the White Opal Etched glass, cylindrical shade.

Marquelle Collection by Feiss - Hamptons

Marquelle Collection by Feiss

The streamlined, geometric lantern silhouettes of the Marquelle collection from Feiss are updated with contemporary flair and offered in two distinctly different finish styles – a rustic, industrial aesthetic with a dark, textured Weathered Iron finish, and a time-worn, chic style with gilded Distressed Gold Leaf finish for more eclectic and classic-inspired décor.

Nori Collection by Feiss - Hamptons

Nori Collection by Feiss

The Nori Collection features vintage elements like beautifully cascading Driftwood Grey Wood beads and the rustic flair of a Dark Weathered Zinc finish. On the chandeliers, an optional large Driftwood Grey Wood bead suspends from the center of the frame, adding a touch of elegance to a traditional silhouette.

The Tabby Collection by Feiss - Hamptons

The Tabby Collection by Feiss

Marrying an elegant spherical silhouette with the on-trend look of exposed lamping, the Tabby lighting collection by Feiss is an all-together modern update to a classic pendant, with two different silver leaf techniques used to produce either a dark brown or true silver Mercury glass effect.

At Project 20 we make it an easy process for our local buyers interested in purchasing any of our Feiss or other US designer lighting collections. Unlike when ordering a Feiss light direct online, which are wired for US Standards, not Australian (and thus require the extra expense of re-wiring to convert them for installation here), Project 20 ensure that all Feiss lights purchased are ready to be installed straight away, all wired in accordance with AS/NZS Wiring Rules. What’s not to love?
